Maruti Suzuki launched a couple of good products, including both Vitara Brezza and Baleno in the recent times. The Baleno was restricted to Nexa outlets while Brezza saw broader daylight through regular Maruti dealerships. Within last few months, it has become the number one utility vehicle of India, outselling Mahindra Bolero, Hyundai Creta and even Toyota Innova in the numbers. However, all of them belong to different categories of utility vehicles, the high ground clearance among all of them makes them share the common keyword.
Vitara Brezza is only powered by a diesel engine currently. With changing everyday trend, even the Toyota Innova now uses a petrol motor. Maruti Suzuki has promised a petrol motor for Vitara Brezza for next year while the AMT unit on both the diesel and petrol engine is also in the works. This will help Vitara Brezza achieve a much lower starting price, appealing more customers into the compact SUV segment.
Maxabout says that Vitara Brezza uses the more powerful version of 1248 cc, Multijet diesel engine. It produces 88.8 BHP and 200 Nm of torque while comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The expected petrol engine is the 1.4 L unit from Ciaz and Ertiga while equal chances for a premium 1.0 L Boosterjet engine with 110 HP and 170 Nm of torque is even on the charts. However, this one would not be as competitively priced as the non-turbocharged units.
Vitara Brezza measures 3995 mm in length and 1790 mm in width. However, the 1640 mm of overall height is quite high with respect to its length, providing it a bit of boxy look from certain angles. The important features on the Brezza include front projector headlights with DRL’s, attractive alloy wheel design, Smartplay infotainment system, color option within the console and availability of dual front airbags and ABS in the safety package.
