Recently launched Hyundai Elantra seems to be the most impressive C-Segment sedan of India as it has gathered 18,000 inquiries and even 1100 bookings in just 6 weeks of its launch. The car is a major update from the fluidic design language from the previous generation of Elantra and carries loads of equipment on both inside and outside. The 6th generation Elantra entered India on 23rd August 2016 and it’s strong fan following made it a sudden success within few days of its entry.
Hyundai is going right in its premium brand making direction as providing maximum features and still making the car in India has definitely benefited the brand to a large extent. All things apart, the design of the car speaks for itself and turn heads without a loud roar on the roads. It comes with new front fascia and even sharper tail section for the next generation feel. The interiors are now generations ahead with a classy design, leaving the curved surfaces for the newly adopted design language for the inside. Hyundai has used Matt Silver finish instead of Chrome while the seats and door trims are wrapped in Black.
According to Maxabout, the car features 1999cc, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 152 PS @ 6200 rpm and 192 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox while the option of 6-speed automatic is also there on the topmost trims. The second engine is the same tried and tested 1582 cc diesel motor producing 128 PS @ 4000 rpm and 260 Nm @ 1900-2750 rpm.
The engine has the same gearbox options as petrol while its power factor is quite low when compared to Cruze’s 2.0 L diesel engine. The car measures 4570 mm in length, 1800 mm in width and 1465 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2700 mm and comes as front wheel drive only. It claims an impressive 22.4 kmpl of mileage from its diesel engine. New Hyundai Elantra is priced at INR 12.99 lakhs for the base petrol model and INR 19.19 lakhs for the topmost diesel model with automatic transmission.
