Maruti Suzuki recently launched the much awaited Ignis hatchback in India. The car starts with a price tag of INR 4.59 lakh for the base Sigma petrol variant and would be available only through Nexa dealerships. Maruti has managed to get more than 10,000 bookings for Ignis is just 20 days! The car was launched at an Axwell Concert in Indira Gandhi Stadium, Delhi. Maruti fans witnessed the real potential of the fresh, millennial oriented design that has been pushed into the Ignis through its unique and catchy body language.
The car is offered in India with two engine options and both are equally blessed with the option of an AMT gearbox. Maxabout explains that the petrol model is being offered in four grades while the diesel retains just three out of them. The base Sigma is exclusive to the petrol variant only. The car is vibrant and that can be guessed through the number of available shades, including those dual tone Black and White roof options on the top two trims.
The 1.2 liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine on the Maruti Ignis is good for 82 BHP and 113 Nm of torque while the 1.3 liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel is good for 74 BHP and 190 Nm of torque. This makes the Ignis a powerful hatchback as most other cars in the competition use a smaller version in the case of diesel motor. Ignis is also the most equipped one with a long list of features that cannot be seen on the cars made by Tata, Hyundai and Ford in this segment.
Maruti Ignis offers first in class LED projectors with U-shaped DRLs, smartplay infotainment system, 15 inch alloy wheels, push start with key-less entry, automatic climate control and rear view camera. It even comes with body colored inserts in case you go for Uptown Red and Tinsel Blue shades on the funky hatchback. After getting Ignis into the dealership network, Nexa now displays three different products for sale in India.
